Job Offers - Digital Systems Group

Postdoctoral Position in Personal Healthcare

The Wearable Computing Lab at ETH Zurich, Switzerland has been established in 2000 to foster interdisciplinary cooperation with ETH internal and external partners. 25 PhD students, Postdocs and technical research staff are combining their expertise in computer vision, system architecture, communication, microsystems, electronic packaging and smart textiles. Results and running projects are described in WearLab Research.

Lab offers a postdoctoral position in the research field of personal and mobile healthcare with possibles emphases on biosensors, cardiovascular and stroke medicine, rehabilitation, stress detection.

Applicants with a PhD in medicine or biomedical engineering and a broad interest in investigation and implementation of mobile monitoring systems are encouraged to apply.

To apply, submit a resume, names and contact information for references, and a brief statement of research/career interests to

Doctoral Assistant in Electronic Textiles (Smart Clothing)

The Wearable Computing Group is focusing on

  • miniaturization of digital systems,
  • computer architectures for wearable applications,
  • wired and wireless communication networks in clothing,
  • sensor systems and signal processing.

Our vision is to integrate computers into clothing so that they are not just portable but truly wearable. Our industrial partners have developed electrically conductive textiles that can be used for power transfer and data transmission. The implementation of electrical circuits on such novel substrates implies challenges in system design because of the radically different mechanical and geometrical properties. The aim of the PhD work will be to realize systems on textiles (SoT).

Candidates with a diploma or master degree in electrical engineering should be interested in system design and wired communication. If you are well qualified, willing to cooperate in a team, interested in wearable computing, you are the person we are looking for.

Are you interested or do you need more information? Please, contact:

Doctoral Assistants

The Electronics Laboratory invites applications for positions of doctoral assistants. The Lab is engaged in several international research projects where positions are open for scientific assistants leading to doctoral degree in electrical engineering within 3 to 4 years. Candidates with a background in electronics and with strong interests in the areas of

  • Wearable and high mobility computing
  • Short distance communication
  • Electronic Packaging for wearable computers
  • Computer architectures for ultra-low power
  • Packaging
  • Multichip modules
are encouraged to apply. The ETH Zürich as one of the top technical universities offers attractive conditions, and specifically encourages female candidates to apply.

Applicants should send a detailed curriculum vitae to
